My dog might be dying. My Mom adopted Hootie 9 years ago. We never lived together for more than a month or two at a time but she has always been my dog. My Mom refers to her as my sister, I get phone calls regularly from my Mom pretending to be Hootie, it’s fucking beautiful. I love her so much but not as much as my mom does, this is going to destroy her and that fucking destroys me, she doesn’t deserve to lose her best friend (that sentence broke me). It is inevitable that dogs leave our lives but there is nothing about it that makes it easier. The next few days are going to be full of tough decisions and unless something incredible happens then I am gonna have to say goodbye to a good friend and my little sister. I wish I had walked her more, I wish I had been around more, I wish she could live forever.
